On Wednesday, March 14, Melvin and Christopher went into the jungle to do some exploring next to the residence of the Adams’ family. In order to take a picture of a tree, Melvin placed his backpack on the ground. While Melvin was taking the picture, his backpack slipped down the hill and fell down a100 foot ravine. Inside the backpack, were water, a shirt, and a $600 camera lens. The ravine was straight down and it seemed like there was no way down.
The next day on March 15, Melvin and Christopher set out on the seemingly impossible task of finding a way down the ravine and rescuing the backpack from certain death. After an hour or so of cutting a path with a machete, they found a way down into the ravine. The “path” was perilous. It was almost straight down, and the soil was too loose to support the weight of the search and rescue team.
Once in the ravine, the team walked for 45 minutes until they found the backpack resting on the bank of a stream. The lens was not damaged, and works fine. The team then made the hour and half trek back to the house.
Overall the mission was a success. Only injuries reported were a couple of scratches and bruises, and a damaged ego from placing a backpack right next to a cliff and not thinking it would fall off.

Wow! Those pictures are amazing! I wish I could have gone down with Dust, but my legs were waayyy too sore!
